With the new guidelines about PSA testing for prostate cancer there will undoubtedly be less males who get regular testing. Because of this, there will probably be males who now will go longer without having their cancer detected. The likelihood is that from now on more males whose cancer is not diagnosed until it has penetrated and spread outside the gland.

The problem is that for males who have prostate cancer metastasis when they are initially diagnosed there is at the present time no known cure. When that point is hit the best that treatment can accomplish is to lessen the pace of the progression and spread of the cancer. This is tragic as the cure level for those men whose prostate cancer is detected early is so high.
