A Pleasant Break From Banging Drums

My young son is a drum nut, which means he spends most of the day driving me nuts. He has a full drum set, a djembe and an old congo drum. We have banished him to the garage but the sound still travels into the house so peace and quiet is a rare thing indeed. On a recommendation from a friend we embarked on a mother and son project to make a rainstick. It was great fun, and amazingly it kept him quiet and off his drums for a few hours. That’s not the best thing though, he loves his rainstick and for the time being at least he plays with it more than his drums. It produces a lovely calming sound and so is a wonderful relief from the constant banging.
