HD DVD in a nutshell

So you may be curious as to what a HD DVD is exactly. You don’t see them around anymore because they are a now defunct digital video disc format. They were the next evolution of the DVD with enough storage capacity to feature full 1080 high definition movies along with a host of other friendly user features.

You needed one of the specific HD DVD Players to watch the movies. These were different from the DVD player in a number of important ways that are all beyond the scope of this article.

In short, the HD DVD was the short lived evolution of the DVD.
