October 10, 2009 - 7:44 pm 3 Comments

overture used to have this feature but i can’t find it anymore. for example, i want to know how many times the word "outdoor grill" has been searched in yahoo or google’s search engines for the month of june. can anyone pls. point me to the right direction regarding this? many thanks! =)

Hi,
Best way to understand your search engine traffic (based on keywords, source, time spent, pages viewed etc) is to use Google Analytics. You can sign up with Google Analytics FREE and install their latest script on your pages (ideal to add in the footer or common include file). Google Analytics provides extensive information, beyond keywords also.

How long should it take to complete a word search puzzle?

I need a reliable average for my Statistics class. Any ideas? suggestions? Anything?

You have to get all the numbers that were given for each person, add them and then divide the total by the amount of people to get the average.

Where can I find word search puzzles that make a picture when completed?

Apparently there are fancy word search puzzles out there that make a picture once you color in the words that you find.

I would prefer a word search generator so I can tailor the vocabulary–I can only seem to find generic word search puzzle makers.

Links are appreciated!

Ain’t sure. Are the following links of any value:

How can I search multiple word documents at the same time?

for example I wanna search "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" but in multiple documents at the same time?

I would recommend downloading Google Desktop, you can search all of your files and documents at one. You can get it here: http://desktop.google.com It works pretty well.

I hope this helps!

How do I get my website on the top of a key word search without paying for a sponsored ad?

October 3, 2009 - 1:21 am 2 Comments

I want to get my site to the top of 1 keyword search. I have done everything I can think of and still I am not anywhere near the top. I have been told that there are some companies out there that say they have deals with Yahoo and Google which make it possible to get you to the top. Is this true or just a scam? Any help to get me to the top would be great! There is one site that is ranked third it is a one page site with like 4 paragraphs on it…how can they beat me unless they are paying for it? And I do not me in the sponsored section they are in the main search. HELP

search engines are like fishing nets. you can’t always guarantee your site will show up at the top, just like you can’t guarantee what kind of fish you’ll get. spiderbots are constantly rescanning the web, postings are constantly appearing and disappearing, and these all affect your ranking.

your competitor may have had their domain registered longer, may have more things being written about them on the web, or may have more sites linking to theirs.

the other thing is there’s often a substantial time delay in putting a site up (or modifying/optimizing it for search) and seeing a change in the results.

the only deals i’ve ever heard of that weren’t scams were SPONSORED LINKS. i wouldn’t trust anyone that said they had some "inside edge"… the big engines are public companies whose stock prices would be hurt if they did illicit side deals.

my recommendations: keep at it, make sure your content is easily searchable (in other words, more text than graphic or flash), make sure you follow the engines’ guidelines for submission to a T, and see if you can get other sites (blogs, epinions, etc.) to have links back to your URL. generally speaking, the more people hosting links to your site, the higher your ranking will be.

hope this helps.

October 1, 2009 - 6:27 am 1 Comment

I am trying to make a word search for my presentation and I can’t find any good sites to make a word search and print it for free
Please answer my question ASAP!

Scholastic has one if you have ten words or less:

On Teachnology, you can create one with up to 20 words:
