Home Theater – 1 or 2 Subs

One question I am asked by homeowners is whether its better to have two subwoofers instead of one. I’ve seen it both ways many times and its really a matter of personal preference and size of room. Let’s put it this way, one ten inch powered subwoofer at say 200W is going to put out as good of sound if not better then two 8in. subs at 100w. Now, if you have a very large theater room and need to send the “rumble” a long distance you may want to invest in 2 subwoofers. If this is the case however, don’t cheap out, buy 2 high powered 10 or 12in subs and place them on opposite sides of the room. This will direct your bass evenly to all of your audience.
